AKOYA Concrete Fire Pit Table – the Pros & Cons…

If you like sleek, modern or industrial-style furniture, you’ll dig this square concrete fire pit table from Akoya. It has the shape and design of a traditional fire pit, however, it conveniently runs on gas.

Fire Pit Features that You May – or May Not – Like

1. The Fire Pit Sits Low

First of all, this fire pit table sits lower to the ground than other models. In fact, it only measures 13 inches tall. Although it provides room to set drinks and food, it may be better suited as a foot rest.

That said, this fire pit has a more casual feel than other tables that sit higher.

2. Table Does Not Hold Gas Tank

Second, the table does not hold a gas tank. If you want to use a propane tank, you will need to connect it outside the table via a hose. Akoya makes and sells a separate tank holder.

(Alternatively, you could connect to natural gas in your home and bypass the gas tank situation altogether.) Natural gas conversion kit sold separately. (See also: How to convert to natural gas.)

3. The Fire Bowl Includes a Glass Guard

The package comes with a protective glass guard for the fire bowl. Some people like this feature because it provides a safe separation barrier between items on the table and the hot flames.

However, this glass surround makes it difficult to take advantage of the full tabletop space when the burner lid is on. It is not as versatile as some other fire pit tables like the Bronze Fire Pit Table or Best Choice Contemporary.

Fire Pit Package Includes:

  • Fire Pit Table
  • Glass Guard for Fire Bowl
  • Stainless Steel Burner Lid
  • 55 lbs of Fire Glass

Gas Fire Pit Flames

The heat output for the Akoya concrete fire pit table goes up to 50,000 BTU’s, which is higher than many standard tables. However, at this high setting, a 20 lb propane gas tank will last only 10 hours.

On the other hand, you have the option to run the flames on a low setting, extending the life of the tank. In this case, you’ll get about 28 hours of burn time. You still get the flickering ambiance, but not as much heat.
